Carla Makes
Teaching

I have been teaching improvised theatre and comedy for over a decade. Before that, I taught English as a Foreign Language (EFL) at various schools in Cambridge for over five years. I teach improv to students at lots of different levels, from those with no performance experience at all, to trained actors. Some of my specialisms are narrative improv, character creation, and dramaturgy. I currently run several courses for The Ministry of Unplanned Occurrences.

'Carla’s class has been a fantastic experience! The sessions are well-structured, engaging, and welcoming, making it easy to connect with others while learning and having fun. Carla creates a supportive environment that encourages creativity and confidence. I’ve really enjoyed the course and the people I’ve met along the way. Highly recommended for anyone looking to try something new and meet great people!'

'it really helped our group of students from diverse backgrounds get to know each other and set the tone of acceptance and support for the week. Carla exceeded our expectations and our students cited her improv session as one of the highlights of the week.'

'I've taken several courses with Carla and keep coming back. :) I enjoy her guidance, personal experiences, and the fact that she facilitates for the group to create and enjoy a safe space to explore, play and have fun without pressure and expectations.'
